The Living Single megathon

Last night Tv One started the Living Single megathon.

living single

It lasts until 10:00pm tonight. I’m still waiting for Warner Home Video to release seasons 2 thru 5. I don’t know why they’re sitting on this show. I own season one and I would love to own the other seasons as well.

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner

Last night President Barack Obama became Stand-Up-In-Chief at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. And no one was spared. I saw it on YouTube this morning and he was pretty good. One of my favorite lines was this one:

“This is a tough holiday for Rahm. He’s not used to saying the word ‘day’ after ‘mother.’ “

The dinner at the Washington Hilton attracted journalists, politicians and celebrities.

Obama Delivers the Zingers at Journalists’ Dinner

When President Obama made his debut as the nation’s Stand-Up-in-Chief last night — the star attraction at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner — no one in his administration was safe from his one-liners.

Not Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton: “The minute she got back from Mexico, she pulled me into a hug and said I should go down there myself.”

Not Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel: “This is a tough holiday for Rahm. He’s not used to saying the word ‘day’ after ‘mother.’ ”

Not even, it turned out, himself: “During the second 100 days, we will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first 100 days.”

And: “My next 100 days will be so successful, I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest.”

The routine brought mostly guffaws from the 2,500 journalists, politicians and celebrities jammed into the Washington Hilton ballroom for the press corps’ annual celebration of itself. The president acknowledged perceptions that he’s a media darling: “Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me. Apologies to the Fox table.”

Checking out the video I saw Tyra Banks, Dule Hill, Demi Moore, Michael Steele and Keith Olbermann. Anyway check out the video provided by C-Span.

Aisha Tyler tapped for talk show

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Actress-comedian Aisha Tyler will host a “hybrid” talk show pilot for ABC.

“The Aisha Tyler Show” will incorporate aspects of a traditional talk show with comedic political commentary, comedy segments and other elements usually associated with late-night shows. Aimed at a younger audience, “Tyler” is being developed as a fully “wired” concept, with fans being able to communicate with Tyler via Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.

There has been speculation that the project might be eyed for ABC’s afternoon block, which airs the soaps “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital.” (CBS recently canceled its long-running soap “Guiding Light” and will replace it with a game or talk show.)

But ABC sources stressed that “Tyler” is being targeted for syndication or cable.

Tyler recently appeared in the feature “Bedtime Stories” and on her recent Comedy Central special “Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore.” She’s completing a U.S. stand-up tour and next will write, direct and star in a series of webisodes for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s FunnyOrDie.com.

I’m looking forward to watching her talk show. I hope the pilot’s successful and gets picked up.  First Wanda Sykes and now Aisha. Finally some change in the late night talk show arena.

First black president starring Richard Pryor

I was listening to the TJMS (Tom Joyner Morning Show) this morning and they played the following recording on the show.  You know I was heading over to YouTube when I got home 😉

The video is from The Richard Pryor Show which only aired four episodes back in 1977 on NBC.  One of the biggest mistakes was airing this show in the family hour at 8:00pm opposite Laverne & Shirley.  What was NBC thinking?  And let’s face it, America just wasn’t ready for this type of show back in the day.

You can check out the dvd for The Richard Pryor Show Volumes 1 & 2 at Amazon.com.
