It’s amazing with all the cable channels I have on Verizon Fios, there are so many channels I never watched before. With all the money I pay each month I better find something to watch in cable tv land. So while channel surfing I discovered the National Geographic Channel, also called NatGeo. The show that caught my eye is called Locked Up Abroad. Locked Up Abroad (it’s called Banged Up Abroad in some countries) is a British produced docudrama television series. Many of the stories are about people traveling to foreign countries and trying to smuggle illegal drugs out of those countries. These people are arrested and receive lengthy prison sentences. The show also features stories of people who have been abducted/kidnapped by militant/terrorist groups overseas. Locked Up Abroad premiered in 2006 so I’m just catching up on the shows NatGeo has been showing. New episodes are shown on Wednesdays at 10pm EST. NatGeo has mini marathons of episodes from previous seasons during the weekend and Wednesday afternoons. My dvr has been very busy.
When I’m watching this show I’m surprised at how naive some of these folks are. Many are young adults who are desperate for money but they should still know better. If an offer sounds too good to be true then something should clue them in. Locked Up Abroad should be required viewing for high school students who want to travel overseas.
Anyway I’m really enjoying this show. If you’re looking for something different to watch on tv check out Locked Up Abroad. If you don’t have NatGeo you can check out some of the Locked Up Abroad episodes at Hulu. You can read all about the show at the NatGeo site.
