I was checking out Amazon.com the other day and ran across a new book being published in a couple of months titled Michael Jackson: Before He Was King by Todd Gray.
According to the product description Mr. Gray was Michael’s personal photographer up till his Thriller days. The 144 page book contains plenty of pictures of Michael over a 10 year period. Of course I pre-ordered the book and I’m looking forward to checking it out.
There’s another new book coming out in December which has been sanctioned by his estate. The Official Michael Jackson Opus will be released on December 7.

The first new book about Michael Jackson sanctioned by his estate will be published Dec. 7, and it promises to be as razzle-dazzling as the late pop icon himself.
Kraken Opus, whose opulent publications focus on major figures and brands in sports and the arts, begins accepting pre-orders today for The Official Michael Jackson Opus at michaeljacksonopus.com, michaeljackson.com and through Ticketmaster. The oversized, 400-page tribute will be driven by photos but also will include essays, illustrations and poetry, at least half of it exclusive — all handbound in leather and enclosed in a silk clamshell case.
Where other projects have been priced at more than $2,000, the Jackson book will cost $165. “Michael wanted this to be accessible to as many people as possible,” says Kraken CEO Karl Fowler.
This 400 page tribute book will cost around $165. That ain’t cheap so if you’re interested start saving now. The book will contain photos, essays, illustrations and poetry and will be handbound in leather and enclosed in a silk clamshell case according to the article in USA Today. Check out the Opus website for more info.
It’s a Michael Jackson birthday weekend on QVC. They will be selling Michael Jackson merchandise again. Michael’s birthday is Saturday, August 29. But that day is already reserved for the Sterling Designer Gallery Day. So on Friday, August 28, Sunday, August 30 and Monday, August 31 QVC will have 4 shows dedicated to Michael. On Friday the first show, Michael Jackson Music and Memories, will be at 11:00pm. On Sunday the first show will be shown at 2:00am and the second show will be shown at 9:00pm. On Monday the last presentation will be shown at 4:00pm. Hmmm, I wonder if QVC will have a presentation on the Michael Jackson Opus book and have advanced orders.
Speaking of birthday weekend TV One will be celebrating Michael’s birthday starting at noon on Saturday. TV One’s Forever Michael Day will include The Michael Jackson Story, the miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream and The Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Concert.
I read somewhere on the net that Michael had written a column for Beliefnet.com. I found it yesterday and it’s interesting what Michael had to say about his childhood. It’s titled My Childhood, My Sabbath, My Freedom. Beliefnet first ran Michael’s story in December 2000.
Okay, I’m not mad at former Miss Universe of 1977 Janelle Penny Commissiong 🙂
I was doing some googling and came across this article about the Jackson 5 visiting Trinidad and Tobago in 1978. Miss Commissiong who’s from Trinidad and Tobago is shown in the above pictures with Michael and his brothers during their visit.
I remember watching the Miss Universe pageant when Janelle won. I was so happy for her cause she became the first black Miss Universe.
