Uppity

That’s the word Georgia congressman Lynn Westmoreland described the Obamas.  So being black, educated and doing well in life is now considered uppity. Damn, and to think some blacks consider that acting white.

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland of Grantville, Ga., described the Obamas as members of an “elitist-class … that thinks that they’re uppity,” according to The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper.

Asked to clarify whether he intended to use the word, he said, “Yeah, uppity.”

Why didn’t Westmoreland just come out say what he really wanted to say? He really wanted to call the Obamas “uppity n***ers” who don’t know their place.   You know he wanted to say it.  Even North Carolina born political consultant David Gergen pointed out the code words used in McCain’s campaign ad last month.
