CBS has hired Laurence Fishburne to join the cast of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” where he will sorta, kinda take William Petersen’s place.
Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is working as a college lecturer, teaching a course in “criminalistics,” who comes into contact with the CSI team and winds up joining the Las Vegas Crime Lab as a Level-1 CSI, CBS explained today.
“His focus is on understanding criminal behavior and how and why people commit acts of violence — tendencies he disturbingly sees within himself,” CBS added.
CBS programming chief Nina Tassler told TV critics in July, without naming Fishburne, that the new character would be a scientist/outsider type who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer.

Well this is good news. I was pissed when they killed off the character Warrick Brown played by Gary Dourdan. Thank goodness CBS had the decency to hire a real actor and not some rapper. Hiring rappers for acting gigs seem to be the rage in Hollywood.
