The Korean and other educational systems in Asia (and in places like the Caribbean) cause this intense pressure. Imagine a system where if you didn't get into an Ivy League School you were doomed for life to hold a low paying job and to have little success. In the Caribbean where my parents are from if you don't have above a certain score on the final high school exam then you are shuttled into vocational education point blank. You won't get in to *any* college. Only those who make above a certain score are allowed in. Even before that there are tests that determine which high school you are allowed into. This is what many Asian kids are facing across Asia. This is why they are extremely focused on education. It's a sink or swim situation with little gray area in between.

The upside to the American system is that everyone has a chance, but the downside is that a lot in education gets left by the wayside especially for blacks and other minorities.

I'm black and if I had children I would totally send them to an Asian cram school. I think Black people should enroll their kids in them en masse but they are hard to find. You have to go to Chinatown or K-town and ask around.

So what culture does the name Clitoria come from anonymous? And when that girl is of age to realize what her name is referring to, when do you think she will live down the torment of her peers? I am not saying that i am against the choices we have, but c'mon, she named her Clitoria

The show is great with fantastic recipes, and whole new look at cooking. I only wish she could or would be nicer to Pat, she Definitely runs the kitchen, the house, everything, but it changes every season, where Gina becomes more and more demanding.

I loved this! The German exchange student thought that we must be the most bizarre people until I explained it properly...

...which did make me think - but less about the strange names and more about what our government would have to be to make a piece of legislature like that, and also that someone from a foreign country wouldn't have to stretch that far to believe American politics would succumb to things like this.

Applause for the philosophy lesson.

Whatz up Sista I found your article very interesting. My blog will give you an enormous amount of rich black biker history and news. Check it out. I actually have met and know Miss Showtime. This woman has a very sweet spirit but is truly a rider.
She can run circles around most men on a motorcycle. She is the truth and an icon to us black female riders.

For ordinary people, swatting a fly is nothing. But if its Pres. Obama doing it on national t.v. using his bare hand, with all the germs on the fly, while on an interview - uhmm, I'm speechless.
