Indiana Woman to Have Dinner With Obama

March 27, 2008 — Bonnie Locchetta has a lot to say to Barack Obama, and she’ll soon get her chance.
The 44-year-old Rushville, Ind., woman was chosen to have dinner with the Democratic presidential candidate after she donated $25 to his campaign.
“I want to ask him what he plans to do to help people like me send their kids to college and help people like me to retire who have no savings and to help people like my mother who’s struggling to afford her medication when she’s also struggling to pay her housing and all her bills,” she said Wednesday.
The single mother of three said she has followed Obama since his speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and was inspired to “put a little money where my mouth was” on Monday to support him. She said his policies on the economy, the Iraq war and education make him the best candidate.
“He says a lot of things that make sense to me and he’s coming at things from such an angle that I think he can change things,” Locchetta said.
I think it’s a good idea to have presidential candidates meet potential voters face to face. It gives them the opportunity to listen to what average everyday Americans are going through, especially when it comes to domestic issues like the economy.
And it’s about damn time. Kudos to the ladies over at Black Women Vote!!! Back in 2007 a West Palm Beach woman and her son were viciously attacked and raped by a pack of thugs. Like I had mentioned last week I blogged about this case last July in my post about a certain subculture of young black males who are hellbent on living the thug life and terrorizing the black community.
Four of the rapists have been arrested and are in jail without bail. But this has apparently bugged the hell out of the West Palm Beach NAACP and Al Sharpton. The NAACP and Sharpton felt that the thugs were being unfairly punished due to a somewhat similar case involving a group of white teens who raped two fourteen year old girls who were friends in Boca Raton, FL and are free on bond. The only thing is in the West Palm Beach case this was a home invasion and a brutal gang rape. The Boca Raton case involved teens getting two fourteen year olds drunk and then raping them. Yes both cases involved rape but the mother and son did not invite those thugs into her home to get drunk. What they did to this woman and her son was vile and inhuman. But for Sharpton to compare the two cases and cry about injustice is beyond pathetic. What about the injustice towards the woman and her son? And the West Palm Beach NAACP? What in the hell were they thinking? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since the national NAACP honored rapist R. Kelly. Apparently the NAACP is just keepin’ it real.
The ladies over at Black Women Vote were outraged when they found out that Al Sharpton and the West Palm Beach NAACP were defending the rapists. The ladies went on an email campaign to condemn the NAACP and Sharpton. You can read more about the Dunbar Village case here at the Dunbar Village website.
